Stephen is the re-planter and pastor of First Baptist Church of Scituate.
Stephen was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas. It was at 12 years old that he became a Christian. He had heard the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ many times in the church that he grew up attending, but it was in December of 1997 that the power of the gospel sank in for Stephen and he became a Christian.
After graduating high school, Stephen went to college where he studied criminal justice and political science and eventually met his wife Amanda. Though he entered college with a desire to pursue a career in federal law enforcement, Stephen eventually found himself more passionate about entering ministry. After many talks with pastors that he looked up to, Stephen decided to change course and prepare for a life in ministry.
Stephen and Amanda were married in 2010 and moved to greater Boston in 2011. In 2014 the McDonald's settled on the south shore, and in 2017 the opportunity to lead in re-planting FBC Scituate was brought to Stephen. After praying about this possibility and walking through discussions with the leadership at both FBC Scituate and the church Stephen served at that time (South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham), the decision was made to go forward in the re-plant in partnership between FBC Scituate and South Shore Baptist Church.
In the summer of 2018, Stephen and his wife Amanda welcomed their son Nicholas into the world.
In his free time, Stephen enjoys playing with his son, watching sports, reading, and golfing.
